Store Location and Hours
Harlan J. Berk, Ltd. is located in downtown Chicago's business and financial district. Our facilities include a ground-level retail store and gallery on Clark Street. There are displays of U.S. and Foreign coins and currency, as well as a large selection of books and supplies for the collector. Our storefront also contains three galleries of antiquities which are available for viewing during business hours. For research and our ancient coin customers we have nearby private offices, libraries, and meeting places providing you with a relaxed atmosphere to conduct your business or research. We are open from 9 A.M. to 4:45 P.M. Central Time, Monday through Friday.
Harlan J. Berk, Ltd. is represented at most of the major coin shows in the United States to better serve you at a more personal level should you be unable to visit our Chicago store. We attend numerous shows during the year, but may always be found at the following shows: all sponsored New York International coin shows, Chicago International Coin Fair, American Numismatic Association mid-winter shows, American Numismatic Association Annual Conventions, Central States conventions, and several others.

Buy or Bid Sale
Harlan J. Berk, Ltd. is proud to present our innovative buy/bid sale method of selling ancient coins and antiquities. Every two months, we produce a catalogue with 600-1000 lots of Ancient Greek, Roman, and Byzantine coins, classical antiquities as well Oriental pieces. Customers may purchase an item at the buy price at any time during the sale. We are proud to say we will ship any item immediately to established customers. Clients who do not wish to pay the buy price may also place a bid on any item. When the sale closes, the highest acceptable bid will receive the item. At the beginning of the sale there are no reserves set on any lot. This way clients have the freedom to bid what they like. Approximately 2-3 weeks before the closing we will go though every lot and determine if the bids we have are accepted. If we accept the bid then we set the next acceptable bid 10% above this level. If we have no bid entered we will now set a reserve or if the bid entered is not accepted. By announcement by email, clients with active bids in the sale can view whether they have been accepted by logging into 'MYHJB' under 'MY BUY OR BID SALE' using their user name and password registered with the site. Next to each lot it will simply state 'Yes' or 'No'. Clients wishing to bid for the first time at this point, may view the next acceptable bid which is posted on the detail page (image page) of each lot. We will never sell an item for more than the estimate and we do not charge a buyer's fee. The buy/bid sale allows our customers to have the greatest variety of choices when purchasing items from us.
Consignments
Harlan J. Berk, Ltd. is happy to sell your Ancient Coins or Antiquities in our buy/bid sales, or on an individual basis. We charge a very competitive commission. If you would like more information on consignments, send an e-mail to us.

For immediate purchase and shipping, we are happy to take VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express credit cards. Feel free to also use your ATM cards whenever you visit our store. We also accept checks of all types. Please contact our offices for our bank wire information. For Bitcoin Payments: Please make your order from our web site using the wire as payment option. After orders are received we will send out a request for Bitcoins through Coinbase.

Library and Research Center
The employees of Harlan J. Berk, Ltd. are some of the finest numismatists and researchers in the business today (Meet Our Experts). It is one of our primary goals to ensure that our customers learn as much as possible about their purchases. To facilitate this, we have amassed a 10,000-volume library of books covering most fields of numismatics. If you have a particular coin, set of coins, or antiquity that you would like special research or information on, our employees would be happy to research the item for you and send their results to you free of charge. Of course, all of our facilities are available to any of our customers who wish to research themselves. Just come in during regular business hours, and ask to visit our libraries.
Our ground-level shop is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 4:45 P.M. (Chicago time). Our Library and Research Center located thirteen floors above houses our 10,000-volume library and photo file. It is open to any customer who wishes to pursue private research or to view coins in our buy or bid sales.
Service Want Lists
The employees of Harlan J. Berk, Ltd. will work diligently to satisfy the want lists of any of its customers. If we obtain an item on the want list of a customer, we will often offer it to them before we make the item available to the general public. Send us your want list
Return Policy
At Harlan J. Berk, Ltd., we want our clients to be happy with their purchases, as it is our philosophy to work with our clients to build their collections. If for any reason you are not satisfied with any item, please contact our offices as soon as you decide to return it to let us know that the item is coming back. We require clients to make their decisions quickly, however, and we provide a window of no more than 7 days from the date of receiving the item or items. Clients are responsible for the shipping fees, and are responsible for insuring the item or items for their invoiced price. Refunds will be made upon arrival of those returns in the form by which the original payment was received, or the funds may be left on credit towards future purchases. Free shipping up to the previous orders shipping fees will be given as a courtesy on the following order for which credits are left with us. Please note that even though we do not charge clients a charge for using credit cards on purchases, we will not absorb those same charges if an item is returned. Credited items charged by credit card or Paypal will be subjected to the percentage originally charged by these companies. For most credit cards we are charged 2%. Paypal varies from 2.0-3.5% and up depending on the currency it was received in. Of course, as an incentive all of these fees will also be waived if the credit is left on account towards future purchases. Orders paid with Bitcoins can only be returned for in-store credit and only on non bullion related items.
