1851 Braided Hair Large Cent – Philadelphia Mint – Early U.S. Copper

Offered here is an 1851 Braided Hair Large Cent, a classic 19th-century United States copper coin from the final years of the historic Large Cent denomination.

The obverse features Liberty facing left, wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The 1851 date is clearly visible below. The reverse displays the bold ONE CENT denomination enclosed within a laurel wreath, surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

This example displays attractive, naturally aged brown coloration with honest circulation wear. The date, major lettering, stars, Liberty portrait, wreath, and denomination remain well defined and readily visible.
